No matter how hard you try, you can’t avoid all toxins. Your children are exposed to toxins every day from chemicals lurking in food, water, air, schools, playgrounds, and even in your home. Everyone living in this world has some degree of toxicity in their body. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.

There are two things you can do to reduce the toxic load in your child and yourself:

1 – Limit exposure

2 – Optimize detoxification

Think about the risks you can control. One of the most important things you can do is to buy organic, whole foods instead of processed, conventional genetically modified foods. Then look at the products you buy for your home, such as toys, furniture (especially mattresses), cooking utensils and cleaning products.

You can use an air purifier to reduce the toxins circulating in the air and a water purifier to get clean, purified water. Body care products such as soaps, lotions, and shampoos can contain large amounts of chemicals that can be absorbed by the skin. There are many non-toxic alternatives on the market that work just as well, if not better, than toxic products.

Optimize detoxification

A healthy, well-nourished body is constantly detoxifying.

Avoid food triggers

It is important to identify foods that may cause adverse food reactions in your child. Eliminating these foods will reduce inflammation and help restore balance to the gut, which will support detoxification pathways. This is especially important if your child has a chronic illness. Wheat, dairy, and sugar are major culprits of inflammation, so consider reducing or eliminating these foods.

Healthy excretion

Healthy elimination is important for your child’s body. It is necessary to keep their bowels moving. They need one to two healthy bowel movements per day. This means they need to eat lots of fiber and drink lots of filtered water.

Toxins are excreted through stool, pee, and sweat, so make sure this happens regularly!

Other safe ways to detox:

Epsom salt bath

Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, a compound composed of two minerals: magnesium and sulfur. These two minerals are essential in helping to flush out toxins from the body. Epsom salt baths are a safe way to increase your magnesium and sulfate levels because they can be absorbed through the skin.

How to take an Epsom salt bath:

Dissolve 1 or 2 cups of Epsom salt in a standard size of warm (not too hot) water. Soak 2-3 times a week for a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 20-30 minutes. Do not use soap when bathing and do not rinse off, but allow the Epsom salt to dry and remain on the skin for maximum absorption.

Toxins are released through the skin through sweating. Regular exercise is important. It’s great to get the kids working up a sweat. Jumping on a trampoline or rebounder is a great way to stimulate your lymphatic system to eliminate toxins.

Infrared sauna

Children over six years old can safely use an infrared sauna for up to 20 minutes. One of the benefits of a quality infrared sauna is that it generates lower temperatures than traditional types of saunas, and the surface does not get hot enough to cause contact burns. But be sure to observe your child during and after the session to see how they react to the heat.

In addition to detoxifying, saunas nourish and calm the nervous system. A good time for kids to take a sauna is before taking a bath or shower in the evening. It allows them to relax at bedtime. Bounce on a mini trampoline or bouncer before a sauna to open skin pores and stimulate lymph flow.

  • Drink water before and during the sauna. Coconut water is a great electrolyte replacement drink.
  • Do not allow sweat (toxins) to be reabsorbed into the skin. Shower immediately after sauna.
  • A sauna that uses zero electromagnetic fields.
  • Sauna bathing is not recommended for infants or young children.
